Have the Best of Both Worlds With Acclaim® Impact Windows:

There is a specific beauty to living on the coast that you just can't find anywhere else. It’s the salt air filling your lungs in the morning, the rhythmic sound of waves crashing that lulls you to sleep, and those stunning, painted-sky sunrises. It really is the dream for many people.

But let’s be honest for a moment: living on the edge of the ocean comes with a very real, very loud reality check. For those of us on the coast, storm season isn't a possibility; it’s inevitable. It’s not a matter of if the next storm hits, but when. And when the meteorologist starts looking worried, the last thing you want to be doing is questioning the integrity of your home's windows.

However, protecting your sanctuary doesn't mean you have to sacrifice the very views you bought the house for. You don't have to choose between living in a fortress and having a beautiful, light-filled home. With Acclaim® Impact replacement windows exclusively from Renewal by Andersen, you can have the best of both worlds. These replacement windows blend strong protection with the aesthetic appeal your home deserves, making sure that when the skies turn dark, your peace of mind stays bright.
Coastal Impact windows provide benefits beyond helping to protect your home and family from the impact of hurricanes and rough weather and also help safeguard your home from everyday threats like heat, humidity, salt water, damaging UV rays and termites.

What Makes a Window "Storm Ready"?

When we talk about storm-ready windows, we aren't just talking about a standard window with a slightly thicker pane of glass. True coastal protection requires a complete system designed for resilience, engineered to handle everything from pressure changes to flying debris.*

The magic of impact resistant glass

At the heart of the Acclaim® Impact window is Impact-Resistant (IR) glass. This tough glass features a specialized, laminated layer bonded between two panes.

In the event of an impact—say, a rogue tree branch during a gale—the glass may break, but it won't necessarily fall out of the frame. That laminated layer holds the pieces together. In some cases, the exterior pane may break, but the interior does not, helping maintain the pressure in the home. This is critical because once a full window breach occurs during a hurricane, the internal pressure in your home changes instantly, which can lead to roof failure. IR glass helps keep the elements (and maintain the pressure balance) outside where they belong.

The Fibrex® composite material advantage

Glass is only half the battle; the frame is what holds it all in place. This is where Renewal by Andersen’s exclusive Fibrex® composite material shines. Fibrex material offers the strength and stability of wood with the low-maintenance features of vinyl.

In fact, Fibrex material is twice as strong as vinyl. This strength is crucial when facing the high internal and external pressures generated by a storm. Plus, unlike wood that can rot, or aluminum that can corrode in salty air, Fibrex material is warranted not to rot, chip, corrode, flake, or peel. It manages to be both the beauty and the beast of the window world—looking good while doing the heavy lifting.

Strong Protection for Your Home and Family

We know that helping keep your family safe is your number one priority—and that makes it a priority for us, too. Acclaim® Impact windows aren't just tough; they are built to stand up to hurricane-force winds and wind-borne debris.* They also help safeguard your home from everyday threats like heat, humidity, salt water, damaging UV rays and termites.**

Tough enough to withstand the storms

Designed to withstand among the harshest weather environments, our Acclaim Impact replacement windows are certified through the Florida Product Approval program for High Velocity Hurricane Zones (HVHZ) and broader coastal areas. This means they have been subjected to rigorous testing to make sure they can stand up to some of the harshest conditions Mother Nature can cook up.

Debris defense

The wind itself is scary, but it’s usually what the wind is carrying that causes damage. Acclaim® Impact windows are designed specifically to stand up to hurricane-force winds and wind-borne debris.*

Imagine this scenario: A storm is tracking toward your town. Instead of rushing to the local big box store to fight over the last sheet of plywood, or spending hours wrestling with heavy shutters, you simply lock your windows. That’s it. You can have the peace of mind knowing your home is protected from flying debris* without the frantic "storm prep" scramble. Plus, you won’t need to feel like you’re living in a dark cave while preparing for a storm.

The "buttoned up" feeling

Even when there isn't a hurricane on the horizon, coastal weather can be intense. Driving rain and high humidity are constant companions. Acclaim® Impact windows provide solid performance that helps keep the weather out. That "buttoned up" feeling means fewer drafts, less water leakage, and a more comfortable interior environment regardless of how the wind is howling outside.

It's not a matter of if the next storm hits, it's a matter of when. Communities in Southwest Florida understand the threat of tropical storms and the damage they can cause. Security Beyond the Storm

You want your windows to protect you in the event of a major weather event. But what about the rest of the time? Your windows need to perform 365 days a year. Interestingly, the same technology that stops a 2x4 from entering your living room is also excellent at stopping uninvited guests.

It’s not just about weather

Home security is a major concern for any homeowner. Standard windows can be a weak point in a home’s defense, but impact windows can change the equation entirely. Acclaim Impact windows meet the highest grade of forced-entry resistance, and can help deter break-in attempts at your home.***
*** Renewal by Andersen® windows are tested in accordance with test standard ASTM F588 at a performance grade forty (40).

Views You Can Actually Enjoy (and See!)

View of beach chairs covered with a umbrellas

For a long time, "impact window" was synonymous with "bulky," "industrial," and "ugly." Homeowners had to accept thick, heavy frames that ate up their view in exchange for performance.

But Acclaim Impact windows tell a different story. Because Fibrex® material is so incredibly strong, the frames can be made narrower without sacrificing durability. Narrower frames mean more glass area.

More glass area means bigger, better views of that beautiful scenery you love. You didn't buy a coastal home to stare at thick plastic window frames; you bought it to see the horizon.

Everyday comfort

Beyond the view, there are unseen benefits that you’ll notice every day. If you choose High-Performance Low-E4® SmartSun™ glass, it blocks 95% of harmful UV rays. This is a game-changer for your interiors, helping your hardwood floors, sofa, and artwork fade less under the harsh coastal sun.

Additionally, the laminated glass helps provide exceptional sound dampening. It helps reduce outside noise, so you hear less of the traffic or the neighbors. It turns your home into the quiet, serene retreat it was always meant to be.

Turtle Glass

If you’re a coastal resident, you may or may not know that sea turtles can get confused by unnatural light sources. That’s why Renewal by Andersen has a special turtle glass option for your replacement windows.

Turtle glass has a special coating, so the lights from inside your house and the light reflected from the moon don’t disorient them—making it easier for them to find their way to the sea after they hatch. In fact, many Florida and other coastal states have ordinances that require turtle glass windows on all construction located near coastal areas.

Our Acclaim® Impact windows feature High-Performance Low-E4® Sun impact-resistant Monolithic Gray glass, which satisfies the Florida Turtle Code and helps decrease light sources that can disorient young sea turtles.

And the best news is that you can maintain your beautiful coastal views—the reason why you live where you do—while protecting the natural beauty around you.

A Superior Experience

Shopping for windows can come with a lot of questions, since it’s not a project most homeowners do very often. That was the case for Florida DIY pro and Renewal by Andersen brand ambassador Liz Rishel.

Rishel had never gone through the window replacement process before. When she and her husband bought a beach cottage on Amelia Island, they were thrilled to see the beach just steps from their new home. But they knew the old windows needed to be replaced. They were in rough shape after years of being battered by Florida’s salty, humid, and hot air.

Many windows were stuck shut, they didn’t buffer the noise, and they were warm to the touch because they were made of aluminum.

“I may be a DIYer, but I know there are some projects you just don’t do on your own, and that includes window and door replacement. I knew I needed a trusted company for this project,” says Rishel.

Rishel’s home now has Renewal by Andersen® Acclaim® Impact windows, and from day one, she noticed the difference.

“I used to struggle keeping our cottage cool during the summer because the old windows would let in so much heat. Now, that’s not the case. We can actually cool off inside, even during peak summer heat,” Rishel says.*

Since her Acclaim Impact windows are made of Fibrex composite material (goodbye aluminum!), they’re not hot to the touch. And the noise level? Much better.

“I can barely hear the landscapers and the traffic across the street. It's so much quieter now!* This cottage truly feels like a respite now that we have our new windows,” she says.

Having gone through the window replacement process, Rishel says she’s thrilled about how easy the process was with Renewal by Andersen.

“Being new to window replacement, I knew from day one that I had the best of the best, and I got that with Renewal by Andersen. It was so smooth having one company for the entire process,” says Rishel.

Not only that, her windows give her more peace of mind for the next storm. “I can feel how strong these windows are—and I trust they’ll hold up well during a storm,” she says
