How much do replacement windows and doors cost? That is a nuanced question, and understanding how to compare apples to apples when you are shopping is not something that a lot of people know how to do. And why would they? It's not a category that most people shop more than once or twice in their lives, especially if we are talking about multiple windows or doors in a home. 

So when you get a bid, how do you know what you are really looking at? What does the "total cost" mean? It can depend on a variety of factors, but some of the most common pricing considerations include window and door type and size, window material and level of customization, hardware and other additional features, glass options, installation technique (and provider), service and warranty, and long-term value.
